The CWAG Group

The Community Wild Life Action Group (CWAG) has been formed by RSPB local group members who have an interest in nature.

We have chosen three locations on Box Moor Trust Land and help by identifying what species are present in these locations thus helping the Box Moor Trust in their efforts to preserve what we have locally and to provide protected habitat for otherwise scarce species.

Over the months the species at the nature reserves changes and the CWAG group records this data and shares it with the Box Moor Trust.

We have three teams and in each of our teams there is usually some knowledgeable person who will share their knowledge in a convivial way, be it about birds, flora or insects.

It is our intention to invite guest specialists from time to time to increase the level of awareness and identification of species.

Surveys are made at a leisurely pace, sometimes it is better to wait and let nature come to us. The fresh air, exercise and the natural environment are also a bonus.

All are welcome, each survey has a leader and a core group, we currently rotate between four sites, Bovingdon Brickworks Reserve, Bury Wood, Ramacre and Gorsefield Woods, and the Roughdowns.

If you are interested please email derekg790@gmail.com and we will send you the dates of the surveys and meeting points.
